The French-Serbian European Summer University : Renewable Energy Sources and Environment-Multidisciplnary Aspect will be held in Vrnjačka Banja , Serbia , from October the 17 th to October the 24 th , 2006. All the sessions of the conference will take place in the Conference Center which will be situated in one of the Hotel of Vrnjačka Banja . Vrnjačka Banja is the most famous resort in the central part of Serbia both because of its natural beauty, and because of its curative thermal waters that have been used since Roman times. Located in the central part of Serbia , at 230 meters above the sea level and about 200 km south from Belgrade . Vrnjačka Banja lies on the northern slopes of a mountain Goč (1147 m), with a large mountain complex of Kopaonik (2017 m), Zeljina (1785 m) and Jastrebac (1492 m), at its back.


Energetically and environmental problems are among the most important problems in the world to day and the first priorities of the“G8”. The research in this field are strongly supported by the Academies of sciences and the scientific community. Due to the interest expressed by some French and Serbian researchers and needs of improving scientific collaboration in this field in the South-East European region, Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, French Academy of Sciences, University Pierre and Marie Curie Paris VI, Euroscience-section for Serbia , have decided to organize an European Summer University dedicated to renewable energy sources named

“TheFrench-Serbian European Summer University: Renewable Energy Sources and Environment-Multidisciplinary Aspect will be held in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia, from October the 17 th to October the 24 th , 2006”


•  Presentation of general trends in this field of research and strategy of implementation for South-East Europe

•  Discussion and exchange of ideas about development of national projects and regional network

•  Creation of a network of young scientists


MSc and PhD students

This event will gather around 40 MSc and PhD students in this fields manly from Serbia and all South-East European countries as well as their colleagues from Europe (5-7) or USA , Russia , Chine or India .


We expect about 25 professors and scientists as lecturers from: Serbia and South-East European countries (50%), and 50% form Europe, USA , Russia , Chine or India .

Lectures and school

-Lectures will be from 60 – 90 minutes including discussion of about half hour as well as the time reserved for a questions of participants which are not in this field of research.

- A special feature of the programme of the University will be the Young researchers' poster competition, for poster contributions submitted by participants younger than 35 years.

A panel of judges will select the prize-winners including five posters for oral presentation.
